Guatemala Here We Come!

Well, only 6 more hours and we are headed to the airport for our Guatemala trip! I can’t believe the time has come. I have packed the bags, taking just a little bit of everything just in case we need a little bit of something. I’ve read and re-read the packing list to make sure I’m not missing anything glaringly obvious like my passport or my toothbrush or my insulin.

We’ve planned a baby shower for the missionary couple down in Guatemala. It includes 5 dozen beautifully decorated cookies, all carefully packed so that they won’t break in transit. Thanks to Jenny & Emilee for taking the time to teach me the way of the Copus cookie and taking the afternoon to decorate. The cookies are beautiful. I’ll post picture as soon as I get them.

Many people ask what I’ll be doing in Guatemala while I’m down there. Myself and 3 high school students will be leading the ESL classes at a local school whose teacher is gone for an extended period of time. They are excited about having a native English speaker as the woman who regularly teaches is not. I was not given the cirriculum, so I will literally be winging it the minute we walk into the school! Pray for wisdom and quick learning on my part. The rest of the group will be doing VBS (Vacation Bible School) and building 2 houses -amazing what a team of 30 can do. We will be updating our church blog, feel free to check it out – ACAC Guatemala Blog. I’m not sure I’ll be able to update this blog while I am away but I will try.

As I write this, I am homesick and I haven’t even left my living room. Please pray for peace. It is hard to leave Dale and Lindy. I want to make her understand that I will come back and that it is okay to be sad for me, but I won’t really know how she’ll take it. She’ll be bouncing around a lot between friends with Dale’s work schedule. Please pray that she will have a FUN week and not a confusing one. Pray that Dale will not be too tired and that he can spend quality time with Lindy.

Again, I don’t know why God has called me to go on this trip, it is unclear to me. Please pray for guidance and opportunities to serve Him.

Oh! and yes! You can stop sending money! ha. I have over $420 more than I need. THANK YOU!!

Just a few pictures I thought you might like!

Also, you will notice our journal page has changed. I am trying to update it to look like everything else, but that won’t happen before I leave.
