18 Months and 6 Years

I LOVE this age. Love it. http://youtu.be/5XufWHQQEJU Every time I get my vacuum out, Ruby wants to help. Starting her young folks. And then, every time I get my blood glucose meter out, she wants to use it too. I've even pricked her once because she was adamant about putting her finger there and wanting me to do it to her. No, I didn't draw blood. I promise. We did enough of that for her first month of her life. But, wow, she is REALLY watching me. The girls eating breakfast together. Lindy had her "special week" this week where she gets to bring in her family and snacks and pictures and whatever delights that she likes. So, we stayed up late one night and raided my craft closet to make some stuff for he bulletin board. Can you see how many animals have come through the Harris house in the picture above? We had a friend tell us this weekend "animals go to your house...to DIE." I might have cried just a little bit. Do you notice the big white space in the picture above? The empty spot on the bottom right. Yah, that is where the teacher took off pictures of Lindy's brother. She apologized and mentioned that she didn't want to have to deal with death and the kiddos. Ok, I said. IO guess I get that. It wasn't like he was bleeding from the mouth or blue. He just looked like he was sleeping. He is her brother, part of our family. P.S. parents, if your children do not know about death, TELL THEM NOW. That is life. I'm not saying scare them and freak them out, but seriously...take them to a funeral maybe? Moving on. I cringe when I see these pictures - poor Lindy, 2 broken arms before 2 years old. Lordy. Here is Lindy showing her "Art Book" to the class. So glad I got that done. I LOVE it. I took all of Lindy's art that has been collecting in boxes in the basement, scanned or took a picture of the crafts and then uploaded them all to create a book. IN.CRED.IBLE. So, she is holding her 2 years to 5 years book. I'm beginning to think her 6 year old book is going to be 4 volumes. It was expensive but completely worth it. You can see her book here: Lindy's Art Volume I (Age 2-5) | Make Your Own Book 84 pages. But totally worth it. Sisters snuggling. … [Read more...]

6 Years

6 Years ago First Birthday 2nd Birthday 3rd Birthday 4th Birthday 5th Birthday And now, my sweet baby girl has turned 6 years old! 6th Birthday Lindy wanted a “weather” party this year so I managed to pull some things together a few days before. Loving the Am.azon Prim.e account that we have. Everything ships in 2 days. phew. I just can’t believe she is 6. When she woke up you would have thought she had skipped 3 years because the chatter from a 6 year old was MAGNIFIED. She was talking so much, I had to laugh at how much she had changed over night. Bam. Just like that. From 5 to 6. We don’t have friend birthday parties every year and this year was a family party – so we invited our “family” over. Ok, so technically they are friends, but we call them family. It was a joyous night celebrating Lindy. I think you can actually SEE the joy on Lindy’s face. There was a bunch of us! Warm egg rolls requested by the birthday girl Pinata time Making a tornado! I am just so proud of Lindy and the young little lady she is becoming. I have many doubts, many times a day on raising her and decisions she is making, but she has such a sweet, sensitive spirit which makes up for some of those tantrums. She has amazing reasoning skills, very creative, is an amazing big sister - I actually call her the perfect sister. She cries when Ruby cries. She helps pick her up, she loves on her so much, plays ring around the rosie. LOVE IT. I think that her brother dying gave her this extra sensitive spot for her Ruby. Lindy loves all the adventures that Dale conjures up, she is messy and unorganized (which I had no clue until she went to school). She has amazing energy and enthusiasm. Love that girl. Happy 6th Birthday Lindy! … [Read more...]

Things I want to Remember

On the phone with Lindy the first day of school as she rides home with daddy. Lindy: "momma, I want to go to bed when I get home". Me: "Why? You tired from all that school?" Lindy: "No! I want to wake up and go to school again!" Look what we GOT in the mail yesterday!!!! OUR STARS!!! If you remember, I am wanting to give a gift to our kids every year they go to school and settled on this idea from another blogger. Let me just tell you, the packaging ALONE for these stars was absolutely incredible. I've never received a gift that was THIS personal. The packaging from the box to the wrapping to the individual tags was VERY beautiful and colorful. I was so excited about the packaging and I hadn't even unwrapped the stars! Lindy: "momma", I'm glad I don't have to be home all day." Me: "why?!!!" Lindy: "I don't have to hear Ruby fuss all day!" We also got a "family theme" star with our verse. Hoping to put it near the breakfast table. I told Lindy that she'll get to keep HER 13 stars after she's done with school and mommy and daddy will keep THEIR stars too (with the verses). Me: "Lindy, have you been the line leader yet?" Lindy: "No, I am the last one to get there." Me: "hmm...You mean when you get dropped off?" Lindy: "Yes. I think you should drive me. Daddy's car is too slow." And Lindy, thinking of her best friend cousin, Kellyn: Lindy: "Momma, when Kellyn comes, will I have to go to school?" P.S. I received a star for Baldsicenceguy, aka my brother-in-law as well. Didn't snap a picture because, of course, the packaging was too nice to open. I had to save it for him. Kavan - It was shipped to you, you should receive it tomorrow!! … [Read more...]
