We had our 12 week appointment yesterday where we did the NT testing. It is optional testing for trisomy 18 and downs syndrome which includes an ultrasound and blood-work. All tests came back normal, so chances are lower of having a child with those disorders. I know the NT testing can cause very heated debates among people. I am a planner, so knowing a head of time that my child could have a serious disorder, is MUCH better than not knowing. Some people take that knowledge and terminate their pregnancy based on the news. I in NO way would consider that and do not take the testing for that reason.
Again, it was beautiful to see the babies heart beating and being so active. I can’t wait to feel those movements. Bittersweet moment again for Dale and I as we watched our child. Before we left, we asked to hear the heartbeat again. That sound is healing to our hearts I think since it is the sound we couldn’t hear that night, almost 2 years ago.
I think it is a girl and we asked the technician to see if she could tell. She agrees with us…we’ll see in a few more weeks if we are right. She would NOT stop moving and her hands were always up by her eyes. You can see a hand in the picture above right by her eye.
I am definitely showing more now. Earlier it was just my fat expanding and now the baby is actually growing into it. Looks a little more like a pregnancy and not just “i wonder if she is” or just plain old fat. Oviously people can tell as well. I’ve had numerous comments over the last few days! I am allowing myself to enjoy this pregnancy and baby more and more everyday.
